Research suggests that even a couple of hours spent investing in your relationship in this way can have a meaningful difference to your relationship and so we invited couples to come along and take some time out together, to focus on their relationship and to think about the importance of valuing and investing in one another.
As couples arrived, we offered some tasty refreshments and invited them to choose their table for the evening.
We introduced ourselves and laid out our ethos for the event. We wanted to reassure the participants that this was not going to be a ‘test’ of their relationships, Instead, the whole purpose of the evening was to encourage, inspire and equip couples in their daily lives together.
The material from Care for the Family featured wisdom from a mixture of people, some with expertise and guidance based on research, others simply sharing their experience on the ground, and what has worked for them.
Everybody engaged with the material, there was a lovely ambience in the room with lots of useful conversations taking place.
Several couples fed back to us that they had appreciated the ‘Warm, friendly environment’ and the fact that there was ‘no pressure to take part in group discussions!’
Another said: “It’s good to have time out without the temptation of TV. Also hearing couples in the videos is reassuring that people have the same issues/difficulties in their marriages.”
We were really encouraged by how well our first ‘Time Out for Couples’ event was received, and so we are planning another similar event on 20th September. This will focus on how we can best understand, communicate and connect well with our partners. If you and your partner would like to take some ‘time out’ for your relationship, please do join us for a “Lovely, stress-free atmosphere, no judgement” event and sign up for your free tickets here.
